Congratulations to Ken Collinson - the recipient of the OAM Lifetime Achievement Award

Chuck Walsh and Gary Lawton present the Lifetime Achievement award to Ken Collinson
Ken Collinson was elected the third president of MARDO (now known as OAM) in 1967. He devoted a lot of time and effort to providing continuing education for Massachusetts opticians, and increasing the number of members in the state society.
When optometry launched an attack in 1969 on opticians’ rights to dispense contact lenses, Ken fought back with his own money and much effort in order to prevail. Licensed, qualified opticians are permitted to fit and sell contact lenses in Massachusetts today because of Ken Collinson’s direction and leadership, which won the decision, made in the State Supreme Court.
