OAM Announces New Meeting Concept:
“Optical Business Strategies & Solutions Forum”
Monday September 29, 2014 7:15pm - 9:30pm at a location near you !!
Are you concerned that the success of your optical business is being affected by the many challenges of 2014?
Have you successfully dealt with insurance changes and on line eyewear sales?
The OAM Board of Directors would like to invite all 2014 OAM Members to participate in our new meeting concept named the “OAM Optical Business Strategy & Solution Forum”.
The purpose of this new meeting is to provide OAM members with an opportunity to share common business concerns and, jointly, propose a strategic plan for direction and possible alternative solutions.
The first meeting will take place on Monday September 29th from 7:15p – 9:15p, and will be held simultaneously at three different locations in Massachusetts ;
Each of the meetings will be moderated by one of our OAM Board Directors using Robert’s Rules of Order to conduct the meeting and flow of discussion.
The agenda for the September 29th meeting is as follows:
6:45p – 7:00p Coffee and desserts served
7:00p – 8:00p Proposing Solutions and Strategies Related to On-Line Concerns
8:00p – 8:15p Coffee Break
8:15p – 9:15p Proposing Solutions and Strategies Related to Insurance Programs
9:15p – 9:30p Closing Remarks & Adjournment

This meeting is intended for 2014 OAM Members only and space is limited, so please RSVP as soon as possible by calling the OAM Office (508 533 1419) or by sending an email message to OpticianMA@aol.com. Please include your name, address, best phone number and meeting site that you plan to attend. Once we have a final count, we will notify you with the exact location of the meeting in your designated area.

Members who are not able to attend but wish to submit their proposals for a strategic plan related to these two issues may do so by sending a detailed mail message to OpticianMA@aol.com. Please indicate “OAM Business Strategy Proposal” in the subject line.
All ideas and proposals will be recorded as notes from the meeting and presented to the OAM Board of Directors for consideration at the October BOD meeting. A summary report will be presented to the membership at the Annual Business Meeting Sunday November 9th at the Southbridge Hotel & Conference Center .

Our Annual Meeting/Fall Conference will be held on Saturday-Sunday November 8 and 9, at the Southbridge Hotel and Conference Center. We will be celebrating the 75th anniversay of OAM (MARDO)! You want want to miss this!

Our next Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26th, 2014, at 6:30 at the Doubletree Hotel in Westborough. All Directors are asked to notify the OAM office no less than 1 week prior to confirm attendance.

There is a lot of activity going on in the optical community around the country. It is a great thing that the OAM has had a long relationship with in a legislative agent who watches out for anything that might negatively impact MA Licensed Opticians.
