The Opticians Association of Massachusetts seeks to advance the knowledge, skills and expertise of the licensed Optician through education, leadership, and legislative representation. Our members are among the most skilled and well-educated ophthalmic dispensers in the nation, and the OAM provides professional support and numerous opportunities to enhance the technical and general skills of its member opticians. Great American Optician Video Contest!
The Opticians Association of America (OAA) is proud to announce that they, in a partnership with Transitions Optical, will be hosting a video contest to help define opticianry. The contest is simple – create your own 30 to 90 second video conveying to a consumer what opticians are and what they do.
The Video Contest is open to all students, state associations, film makers and any individual residing in the United States of America. The winners of the contest will be announced at the 2014 International Vision Expo West in Las Vegas, Nevada. The winning video will receive $3,500; second place will win $2,000; and third place will receive $1,000.

The 16th Annual OAM Golf Tournament for Scholarships and Education will be held on Sunday, September 14th.
Our Annual Meeting/Fall Conference will be held on Saturday-Sunday November 8 and 9, at the Southbridge Hotel and Conference Center. We will be celebrating the 75th anniversay of OAM (MARDO)! You want want to miss this!

Board of Directors Meeting
Our next Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26th, 2014, at 6:30 at the Doubletree Hotel in Westborough. All Directors are asked to notify the OAM office no less than 1 week prior to confirm attendance.

There is a lot of activity going on in the optical community around the country. It is a great thing that the OAM has had a long relationship with in a legislative agent who watches out for anything that might negatively impact MA Licensed Opticians.
